Formation and stability of secondary structures in globular proteins

چکیده
We study two models for the formation and packing of helices and sheets in globular (compact) proteins. These models, based on weighted Hamiltonian paths on a regular lattice both exhibit a first order transition between a compact high temperature phase, with no extended secondary structures, and a quasi-frozen compact phase, with secondary structures invading the whole lattice. The quasi-frozen phase with very weak temperature dependence, is identified as the native phase of proteins, whereas the high-temperature phase

FORMATION OF GLOBULAR STRUCTURES IN ALUMINUM A356 ALLOY BY NARROWMELT STREAM (NMS) TECHNIQUE
Abstract: structures in alloys. This method is based on pouring the melt through a small sized nozzle into a mould located at acertain height under the crucible. This simple method generates globular structures without using equipments such asimpellers, electromagnetic stirrers, ultrasonic probes and cooling slopes. Therefore it is cost effective. In the presentstudy, the effect of casting size...
متن کاملDifferential dehydration effects on globular proteins and intrinsically disordered proteins during film formation
Globular proteins composed of different secondary structures and fold types were examined by synchrotron radiation circular dichroism spectroscopy to determine the effects of dehydration on their secondary structures. They exhibited only minor changes upon removal of bulk water during film formation, contrary to previously reported studies of proteins dehydrated by lyophilization (where substan...
متن کاملOperads of higher transformations for globular sets and for higher magmas
In this article we discuss examples of fractal $omega$-operads. Thus we show that there is an $omega$-operadic approach to explain existence of the globular set of globular setsfootnote{Globular sets are also called $omega$-graphs by the French School.}, the reflexive globular set of reflexive globular sets, the $omega$-magma of $omega$-magmas, and also the reflexive $omega$-magma ...
متن کاملStructural Studies of Amyloid Proteins at the Molecular Level.
Dozens of proteins are known to convert to the aggregated amyloid state. These include fibrils associated with systemic and neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, functional amyloid fibrils in microorganisms and animals, and many denatured proteins. Amyloid fibrils can be much more stable than other protein assemblies. In contrast to globular proteins, a single protein sequence can aggregate in...
متن کاملThermal aggregation of egg white proteins as affected by saccharides
Thermal characteristics of egg white proteins (EWP) may differ in the presence of saccharides. Therefore, the influence of saccharides including carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), pectin, sucrose and maltodextrin and heating time on physicochemical characteristics of EWP as a whole were studied. Investigation of Heat Coagulation Time (HCT), solubility, turbidity and protein secondary structure of h...
